All little girls daydream of what they want to be when they grow up. I know I did. As I sat there in elementary school, scribbling brilliant ideas of what would make me the most happy, the most money and even the most rewarding, I knew that I wanted to work with people. I remember wanting to be a nurse so I could take care of sick people. A bus driver sounded fun at the time too! Hard work has always been a passion of mine. I started cleaning houses at the young age of 11, making $7.50 an hour. It paid for new clothes, shoes and make up. (Which is important in junior high, to impress all the boys of course). In high school I worked and sang jingles for tips at Cold Stone Creamery, worked as a Pharmacy Tech counting tiny little pills and still continued to clean houses but now made $12.50 and hour. After graduating high school I thought my dream of becoming a nurse would start to take off. After a semester attending BSU, gaining the freshman 15, staying up late, partying a little here and there and not doing so well in my courses, I knew I my life was taking a different turn in events.
Exploring new ideas in Sales at a clothing store, serving as at a local Italian restaurant and then moving cross country to New York to be a Nanny, I began to think that I wasn't settled yet. I wanted more, I needed excitement. Life was taking me through a world of roller coaster emotions. Decisions and I are not good friends. In fact we battle often. I struggle knowing if what I am about to jump into is going to be the right choice. What if I fail? What if I miss out on something more amazing? Am I doing what I was called to do? It's amazing how through life experiences we find who we are are and what we were made to become. It's not always easy, but I believe that every choice we make is not a coincidence but a part of the journey. It is worth every wrong turn, every mistake, every adventure, and there will always be an open door to a new chapter in life.
Thanks for joining my blog. I hope you enjoy reading my posts as I share why I am a flight attendant, my adventures in different cities and stories about the incredible people I encounter every day.
P.S. If you are wondering why I named the blog "Jumpseat Diaries", its because a lot of thoughts and events take place there. Stories are shared between flight attendants and passengers come back and entertain us with their jokes, life events and travel itineraries back where that oh so comfortable gray seat, that folds ups or "jumps" up into the wall.
